The up-and-coming group Levity, featuring Chicago’s John Hauldren, Los Angeles’s PJ Carberry, and Minnesota’s Josh Tarum, has been taking the electronic industry by storm ever since their big break at Electric Forest 2023.
Since their debut, the group has gone on to release multiple singles, including their most popular release, “Flip It,” released on DeadBeats last year. Since the release of this single, the group has noticed a large influx of popularity overnight; iconic artists including Zeds Dead, LSDREAM, Subtronics, John Summit & more, have started featuring Levity tracks in their sets.
AN INSIDE SCOOP TO RELEASES
The group seemed excited to speak on the release of “Flip It,” as they mentioned how the reception on the track has been “insane.” PJ went on to explain how “nothing we released before was anything like it. We were watching the live analytical updates for the first week; it was so cool to see how many people were listening to the song, and we couldn’t even understand how many people were streaming it.”
Given the ever-changing strategy and marketing of the music industry, I went on to ask the group about the success they have not only seen in person via show attendance, but also their social media success and their efforts behind it as their instagram has now reached over 100k followers.
River Beats: Talk about the social media attention surrounding Levity. What are your thoughts on the attention?
“In the past 6 months, Levity has really blown up. Life has been absolute chaos, and our social media has been helping us in this process. Having a social media presence is a part of the game now, and if people don’t like it, that’s fine, but it is the newest way of promotion and it definitely works.”
It is our dream to headline our own shows, and we will do what it takes to achieve our dreams.
River Beats: Who are your inspirations and dream collabs for 2024?
“Definitely icons like Griz, Flume, Skrillex, Odesza, LSDREAM, and John Summit. Odesza has been a huge inspiration to us forever; we have been and still are massive fans of their work. We also LOVE LSDREAM; he is just the most amazing human being ever. We were able to open up for him this year, and he was so kind to us the whole night. He even played games with us in the Green Room to bring everyone together. It would be so cool to work with him because we could just to talk him for hours to learn his wisdom.”
River Beats: Anything in the works for 2024 that you can share with us?
“You can expect A LOT. We have an EP in the works as well as some sick merch coming soon. This is also a year of a lot of “firsts” for us, including some shows, venues, and even festivals on our roster that we have never played before. We would love to play festivals like Ultra and EDC and even run it back to Electric Forest 2024 and play the HoneyComb stage again. Follow us on Socials @Levity.Music to see what we have in store for 2024!”
With the rising success of the group, Levity has proven from their live performances that they are here to stay. We recommend checking them out at a show near you so you can see exactly what the hype is all about. With hard work, a fantastic fresh sound design, and dedication, this group has nowhere to go but up in 2024.
