This weekend, Random Rab returns to Denver for an immersive two-night run at Meow Wolf’s kaleidoscopic Denver venue, Convergence Station. Known for his meditative, genre-blurring sound and deep-rooted visual collaborations, Rab is setting the stage for a pair of transformative evenings.

We caught up with Random Rab ahead of his Denver shows to talk atmosphere, alchemy, and the evolving energy across both nights.
When people walk into Meow Wolf for these shows, what’s the first feeling you want them to have?
“When you step into Meow Wolf, I want you to feel like you’ve entered a space where time and reality start to dissolve. The atmosphere will immediately pull you into something otherworldly – immersive, strange, and full of wonder.”
“There’s this sense of being suspended in a dream, where every sound, every light, and every movement feels connected to something deeper. It’s all about opening up to the unknown and letting go.”
You’ve described this as “sonic and visual alchemy.” What does that mean for you in practice?
“The recipe is all about blending sound, light, and energy into a transformative experience. The music and visuals are deeply interconnected, shifting the audience into a different state of mind. The beats create a rhythmic pulse that syncs with the visuals, pulling you deeper into the experience. It’s like crafting a living, breathing artwork that evolves with every moment.”
How does the energy shift from night one to night two?
“Night one is all about diving into deeper, more fluid spaces with slower, psychedelic vibes. It’s immersive and dreamlike, giving people space to drop in and explore. Night two shifts the energy—more upbeat, more movement, more celebration. It’s a high-energy experience rooted in rhythm and connection.”
You’ve worked with visual artist Jonathon Singer for years. What’s your collaboration like?
“Working with Jonathon is a dream. We have this intuitive flow where we just know how to lock in and create something that feels natural. I’ll often start with a musical idea or a feeling I want to evoke, and Jonathon takes that and turns it into something visual—something alive and dynamic. There’s a synergy between us that makes it feel like we’re channeling something bigger than the sum of our parts.”

If Meow Wolf is a portal, where are we going during these shows?
“These two nights take you on a journey through different dimensions of sound and self. Night one is like stepping into a cosmic dream, exploring the depths of your own consciousness. It’s introspective and expansive. Night two is a journey outward—connecting with the crowd, the energy, the beats.”
“Together, they create a balanced experience that moves you from inner exploration to collective celebration.”
