Tycho is officially back; and this time, it’s personal.
Scott Hansen, the creative force behind Tycho, is returning to Denver for two intimate DJ sets at Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox on January 23 and 24, marking a special moment not just for fans, but for the artist himself. After a challenging year in 2025 that included emergency surgery and a postponed Colorado run, these shows feel special, like a meaningful homecoming.

Last year, Hansen shared that he had been diagnosed with cancer, a revelation that understandably shook both him and his community. Thankfully, the diagnosis came early. The cancer was removed through minimally invasive surgery, it hadn’t spread, and no further treatment was needed. Since then, Hansen has spoken openly about the experience: how it forced him to slow down, reflect, and appreciate the people around him. Now, feeling stronger and ready to move forward, he’s easing back into live performances with intention.
Denver fans last saw Tycho in April 2025, when he joined Of The Trees at the Camp Alderwild Festival in Telluride. However, a planned Denver show in June never came to fruition after Hansen’s emergency surgery led to the postponement of a larger Colorado tour. While some shows were rescheduled for later in the summer, the Denver date was ultimately canceled, leaving fans waiting for the right moment.
That moment has arrived.
Instead of a massive venue or festival stage, Tycho’s return to the Mile High City will take place at Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox, one of Denver’s most beloved and character-rich venues. Located just off 20th Street in LoDo, Ophelia’s is housed in a former 1920s brothel-turned-deli-turned-music venue. With a capacity of around 700, the space is known for its close quarters, crystal chandeliers, stained glass, and an energy that makes every show feel immersive.

The timing couldn’t be more fitting. Hansen has spoken about how his recent health scare changed his perspective, not just on life, but on creativity. That renewed sense of gratitude and awareness tends to show up in his music; and seeing that translated live, in a smaller room, is something special.
This is one River Beats Colorado strongly suggests you don’t sleep on.
