Fun fact: More than half (53, to be exact) of the 100 tallest mountains in the United States are located in Colorado. Interestingly, all of them are “14ers,” a term undoubtedly coined by peak baggers meaning they stand at least 14,000 feet tall.
There are actually a total of 58 14ers in Colorado โ far more than any other state. Even Alaska, the state with the next-highest number, has only 19!
Maybe you’re into bagging peaks yourself, or perhaps you prefer to admire Colorado’s majestic mountains from afar. Either way, we’ve compiled a list of all 58 14ers in Colorado for your enjoyment and inspiration.
here’s the ultimate list ofย 14ers in colorado:
Before diving into the list, there is one caveat. There’s a widely accepted rule that in order to be officially ranked as a 14er, a peak must rise at least 300 feet higher than the saddle connecting it to the closest one nearby.
There are five peaks on this list, indicated by an asterisk (*), that aren’t technically ranked because they don’t meet these criteria. For example, a saddle connects Mt. Wilson and El Diente Peak, but El Diente is only 259 feet higher than the saddle. While it is named on this list, some don’t consider it to be a true 14er. Whatever your personal definition is, all 58 of the 14ers in Colorado on this list are incredible!
