Denver is often referred to as the bass capital of the United States, and with good reason. The Black Box, established in 2016, is a cornerstone of this Denver community and sound system culture alike.

Owned and operated by Sub.mission lead Nicole Cacciavillano and her talented team, The Black Box has established itself as a premier tour stop for dubstep legends while also holding space for new and upcoming artists. This weekend, we join to celebrate five incredible years with a lineup that exemplifies what the team is about. Purchase tickets here!

Welcome to The Black Box

While the Black Box is celebrating five years, the team that makes it happen has been hard at work for nearly a decade. Bass music gravitated to the Mile High City through Sub.mission with a simple but important message. Move people through sound, not hype. The music speaks for itself through a sound system completely unique to the venue.

Opening night featured dubstep pioneer Mala of Digital Mystikz, Moresounds, and a RECON takeover much like the ones we still see on the calendar today. This gathering of passionate fans and dedicated staff set the tone for years to come.

Fast forward to 2021, The Black Box and Sub.mission dug deep to stay alive in one of the most difficult times the music industry has ever faced. The team made grand efforts to stay open and provide experiences for the Denver community that won’t soon be forgotten. Their seated table events showed a proof in concept for many others to follow.

Better Than Ever

When the time came to open to full capacity, the Black Box was primed and ready. Now as the winter begins to settle on the mountains out west, it’s time to turn up the heat for a five year celebration! Prepare for a presentation of underground bass music’s finest on the storied Black Box system.

On November 19, Seppa makes his long awaited US return with a range of beats and bass perfectly blended for whatever the occasion demands. Broken Note is also making the leap across the pond from the UK! Joining as support are Grymetime and Denizen, with a stacked cast in The Lounge.

For the November 20 showcase, edIT makes their return for a mind boggling combination of modern mixing and modular synths. Riding high off the release of Come to Grips, the experimental producer will undoubtedly take attendees on a sonic exploration.

Wicker’s Portal, Foxy Dope, and TF Marz will kick the night off in the main room! In The Lounge, Strangerself closes out the evening with a pair of back-to-backs to open up the night.

We can’t wait to see what’s in store and check out the latest updates to the one of a kind sound system. If you can’t get enough of The Black Box, you’re in luck! Featuring live shows and events nearly every day of the week, the doors are open for dedicated fans and budding artists alike.
