If you’re a dog parent living in Denver (or anywhere in Colorado, for that matter), you’re likely used to bringing Fido along for dinner or drinks — or even on date nights. It’s a decidedly Denver-esque thing to do, which is a big part of why the Mile High City is regularly placed near the top of lists of the most dog-friendly cities.

While it’s extremely common for Denver restaurants, cafes, and breweries to allow dogs on their patios, certain places are considerably more dog-friendly than others. And your pup deserves the best, right? We’ve done the legwork and rounded up six of the most dog-friendly patios Denver has to offer.

Next time you want to grab a beer and bring your furry best friend along, you’ve got plenty of options.

Recess Beer Garden

Looking for a spot with an awesome outdoor space, adult beverages, and excellent food? Look no further than Recess Beer Garden, one of the best dog-friendly patios in Denver.

This LoHi hot spot has a multi-level patio, large local brew selection, and killer happy hour specials Monday through Thursday.

Please note, dogs aren’t allowed on the patio after 3:00 PM Fridays and Saturdays during the summer.

Prost Brewing

Want to “drink like a German” with your doggo in tow? Prost Brewing is your spot. Dogs are actually welcome here outside and inside, truly making it one of the best dog-friendly patios Denver can claim.

Humans, enjoy a large selection of award-winning German beers, a beer garden, plenty of classic board games, frequent live music, and excellent skyline views.

In addition to the main LoHi location, Prost has a brewery in Fort Collins and is opening a third in Highlands Ranch in fall 2021.

Just BE Kitchen

Tucked between Highland and Larimer Square, Just BE Kitchen serves “mindful mouthfuls from a conscious kitchen.” The fast-casual restaurant caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions, serving comfort food without refined sugar, gluten, or grain.

It’s been featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and of course, doggos are welcome.

In fact, Just BE Kitchen is one of the most dog-friendly patios Denver has, with two resident pups and paleo treats just for dogs!

The Matchbox

On bustling Larimer Street, The Matchbox is a go-to for cheap, stiff drinks, games, and an awesome dog-friendly patio. Actually, dogs are welcome inside The Matchbox also (if you’re wondering why it’s because they don’t have their own kitchen.

Don’t worry, though — they frequently have rotating food trucks!) and they’re even encouraged to roam freely. You’ll also enjoy a jukebox and Bocce ball but get there early to snag a spot, as The Matchbox gets packed.

Widely considered one of the best restaurants in Denver for date night, Forest Room 5 is incredibly unique. Where else can you roast s’mores around a campfire and dine creekside with your dog in tow, all in the heart of Lo-Hi?!

Forest Room 5 is easily one of the most dog-friendly patios Denver can claim. The only question is who will enjoy it more — you or Fido?

Watering Bowl

Last but certainly not least, Watering Bowl is a local favorite among dog-friendly patios in Denver. There’s a dog in the logo and the restaurant boasts “Denver’s best pawtio,” but it’s not just for show.

Watering Bowl offers dog-themed beers and specials (we’re looking at you, Labrador Lager and Mutt Mondays) and a dog-of-the-month contest, and they partner with local rescues for fundraisers.

Most impressive, though, is the 7,000-square-foot off-leash dog park with puppy pools.
